Character Sneak Peek- Madeline Usher played by Ally Stovall, A Night With Poe, November 6, 5:00 pm, Old Gym, $3 adults, $1 students
Playing this role taught me a lot about emotional connection and understanding the depth behind a character’s experiences. I learned how important it is to connect personally with the emotions my character feels whether it’s pain, love, fear, or hope. This helped me move beyond just “acting” and start feeling what the character was going through. The theme of the story about facing inner struggles and finding strength helped me see how powerful vulnerability can be on stage. The setting also influenced my performance, as I had to imagine myself fully in that world and react naturally to it. Through this process, I practiced a bit of method acting, using my own memories and emotions to make the performance more real. It taught me that the best performances come when you let yourself be open and truly step into your character’s life.

Character Sneak Peek: Roderick Usher in, A Night with Poe, played by Layton Chewey, Nov. 6th, 5:00 pm, Old Gym
To get into character for Roderick Usher, I started by imagining myself in a truly terrifying situation. A situation that would make me tremble with fear. Then I practiced how to project that same feeling on stage, as if I were actually living through it again. It helped me bring Roderick’s nervous energy and haunting presence to life in The Fall of the House of Usher.

Character Sneak Peek: Canton Giles as Fortunato in A Night with Poe, November 6th, Old Gym, 5:00 pm
“This is my first time performing on stage, and it’s been a huge learning experience! As Fortunato in The Cask of Amontillado, I’ve had to figure out pacing, movement, and how to bring a character to life in such a short act. It’s definitely taught me what it really means to act!” Come see Canton and the rest of the Fairland Drama Club in A Night with Poe — a chilling evening of classic tales brought to the stage! 🔥🕯️ #FairlandDrama #ANightWithPoe #CharacterSpotlight #StudentTalent
